[SOLVED] Thinkvantage Does Not Detect Wireless Adapter

#1 Post by bmwman91 » Mon Feb 02, 2009 1:34 pm

OK, I have searched far & wide for the solution to this. Here's the deal.

I have the 3945ABG wireless card in my t60p. The drivers are installed, and Windows is managing the wireless connection. Wireless works fine. However, I want to use Access Connections to manage it. When I press Fn+F5, it tells me, "No supported wireless adapters (802.11, WAN or Bluetooth) are installed in this system." I have disabled the WAN & BT cards in the BIOS as I don't use them at all & want to keep unnecessary hardware off. Access Connections thinks I have no WiFi card installed as well.

The only solution I have read about is the one recommended by Lenovo tech support, as detailed in the last post in this thread:

Does anyone else know what the deal is here? Thanks!

I had the same problem in the past on my T40. i made sure to have the most upto date drivers for hotkey, power manager, ac and wireless card with me. i uninstalled AC and the wireless driver. rebooted then installed the wireless card driver then ac. since i was using ac, i ensured that windows was not trying to connect for me, leave the button blank on the adaptor.

OK, well I went into the DRIVER folder created by the Lenovo installer package & ran the autorun.exe file. After walking through & de-selecting the Intel ProSet crapware & letting it install the drivers that way (as opposed to leading Windows to the .inf files manually), all works fine. I think this goes under the "duh" category. I was originally trying to avoid installing the Intel crapware, which turned out to be easy to deselect.

This worked!!!

Functioning T410 with illegal copy of Windows - I purchased a legit copy of Win7 Home Prem 64, formatted, installed and no network adapters. Got the Ethernet adapter from Lenovo, but no Wireless adapter showing up.

Ran c:\Drivers\win\wlanint\autorun deselected the Intel Proset crapware, and it immediately found my network, connected, and I'm as happy as a clam.

Thanks BMWman91! (BTW, I had an 88 325ic for years, and loved it. Sat in a flood so I ditched it and got a Miata)
