Ubuntu 8.10 problems on a x61s

#1 Post by maurizio.dececco » Tue Feb 03, 2009 11:27 am

Once upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 i have two nasty problems:

1) The bootstrap take a long time (around 3-4 minutes against 1 minute on the 8.04). In the console tty, it is stuck on "configuring network".

2) The wifi do not works anymore (this is the nasty one).

I have an intel g/n card.

Any Ideas ?

By the way, the upgrade solved a couple of problems, notably a very slow wake up from sleep.

Thanks,

Maurizio De Cecco

Sounds like they're connected. I don't stay up on the Ubuntu stuff, are there any updates for your drivers? What kernel is it? Our wireless cards should be supported in newer kernels.

Sorry for the delay, i have been busy :->.

Anyway, i have the 2.6.27-11 generic kernel. Wifi actually worked before an update (don't know anymore
which one) so yes, the card is supposed to works.

It may be a problem with some of the graphic tool, i should take a look to command lines tools to handle wifi.
