HP Imaging Director on X61

I have an HP Scanjet 5550C. I've tried installing HP Imaging Director, unsuccessfully. I've worked with HP tech support. they weren't able to get the sw installed. I've been able to install it on a different computer. but it won't run properly on my X61. Have anyone experienced the same problem? Any suggestions on a package to be able to scan quickly, adjust the scanner settings and save to pdf?
