Big Problem with EZServ Z60m repair

#1 Post by rajm » Sat Feb 07, 2009 3:40 am

I just got my Z60m back from EZServ today. I sent it in because I was having a flickering problem with the LCD.It was shipped on Monday and got it back on Friday; can't really ask for more. However, I power it up and notice the screen resolution is odd. So I go to the display settings and try to increase it and it maxes out at 1200 x 800. I did not send my HDD in and it was left untouched, so all drivers and settings have not been changed. Dumbfounded, I looked at the receipt in the box and it said they placed a WXGA screen on my laptop even though my model, 2529-EAU is speced with a WSXGA+ screen. They did not give a reason for putting the wrong screen, so I immediately called IBM-SERV. The tech said that they have no more 15.4inch WSXGA+ screens and that the depot may have downgraded me. Unfortunately it was the middle of the night and no supervisor was available and won't be until Monday. However, the tech said there is little that can be done and I am stuck with this screen that costs much less than what I paid for and has awful viewing angles. What do I do?

Get back on the phone with IBM and let them know that what they did was unacceptable and that you are very unhappy with it.

Don't take no for an answer, ask for a supervisor if they blow you off.

Agreed. They can't downgrade you without written consent. At least they couldn't in the old days...

Be persistent. Be polite. Be firm.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Well, I called them back today and they said they have no clue what happened because my original screen shows 92 in stock. They are sending another box, so I'll be without my computer for another week, but will hopefully have the right screen...

Update:

After three weeks, I finally got my computer back again from EasyServ. Complete with the right screen this time. Kudos to EasyServ for fixing the problem, but the fact that this happened in the first place is unacceptable. But at least it ended well.

Altogether, how many days were you without your Thinkpad?

I'd say about 14 days.
