quicklaunch toolbar in wrong place

#1 Post by zver17 » Sat Jan 22, 2005 2:13 am

normally the quicklaunch toolbar appears on the taskbar just next to the start button, which is quite convenint. for some reason it has just gone bonkers on my t22 - first it disappeared by itself and now when I bring it up it apears next to the system tray (ie, on the other end of the taskbar). its not exactly fatal but neither is it convenient.

i looked at all settings, tried to move it around but it either stays in the wrong place or completely moves off the taskbar. any solutions anybody?many thanks.

My friend's computer has the same issue (Windows98SE) and I tried for hours to trouble shoot it but didn't have any luck. Any in-put from the experts here would be appreciated.

Play around with the two bars next to it (make sure you dont have the taskbar locked). Without visually seeing it, I cant help much. Can you take a screenshot and email it to me? Ill host the link on here so everyone else can look at it also.

To take a screenshot,

1. Press the print screen button next to the scroll lock key
2. Open up MS Paint and paste or control + v
3. Save as jpg

I made a short video. Its 1MB and 29 seconds long so if youre on a slow connection you need to let it finish downloading. Format is swf so your browser needs to be able to play those types of vids.

And if others wanted a picture of what he's talking about, here is his screenshot. Resolution is 1280x1024 and is 146KB.

Cool, one more thing I didn't know, but which is intuitively done.

Thanks

Johnson,
Mine is a little different but similar. The "Show Desktop" icon won't go to the immediate right of the start button. All of the icons stay just all the way to the right, no matter what I do.

Yeah...I know. A pic by me would also help but like I said in the PM, it's not my TP but a desktop with Win98SE at a friend's house...a desktop. If I get a chance to go back over there soon, I'll try to take a pic or short clip and post here. I know that it's not a TP, but seems that at least a Windows problem and any fix for it would be appreciated. I did notice that at first, there were 2 sets of everything in the lower tray and 2 quick launch task bars. These I was able to get rid of by right clicking on the task bar and going up to the options on it, seeing that you can add and take away extra bars, etc. My friend, however is still left with the issue of all on the lower bar being pushed to the right, including the quick launch....in other works, nothing at all is butted up against the start button on the left and no matter what I do, I don't seem able to fix this problem.
