stand alone power management utility?
stand alone power management utility?
I've been looking for a more complete power management utility, without success. I'd like to be able to create a scheme that powers off everything I don't need- bluetooth, wifi, and sleeps the hard drive when not used, by just choosing that scheme. Hopefully freeware!
Any ideas?

Re: stand alone power management utility?
The newer ThinkVantage Power Manager for T43 do work on T42. It is better than the older one will allow you to do most everything you listed.

Re: stand alone power management utility?
Ok, I have ACPI power management version 1.52 installed, and I downloaded and installed t43 power manager v1.52a, but I get the same options I had for power schemes: monitor power, cpu level, but not wifi and bluetooth off. Has it not installed correctly, or is this all I get?
What did you mean by 'most' everything?
Thanks

Re: stand alone power management utility?
WiFi and BT will go off with Standby but not separately. Normally there are no power settings with BT but there are power setting for WiFi within AC under Advanced Settings. Of course AC doesn't fully work with 3rd party NICs.

Re: stand alone power management utility?
I can't find any advanced settings in Access Connections.
In any case what I still hope to find is a standalone program (so that I can also intall it on non-thinkpads) that really controls everything in each scheme. I did find one (powertouch beta) but it doesn't seem to do anything at all.
Anyone seen anything like this?
Thanks for your help

Open the WiFi profile in AC. In the Wireless settings tab, on the right side below 4. Security Settings is 5. Advanced Settings. There are no off timer settings but allows reduced power to prolong battery run time.sinc wrote:I can't find any advanced settings in Access Connections.

'on the right side below 4'
On the right side below 4 I have open white real estate. It's AC version 5.12. Maybe I would have to enable something, but I don't see what.
Thanks
