Games Running in 1/4 of the screen?
Games Running in 1/4 of the screen?
Hi guys, just got here, have a used Lenovo T61 (7663 cv5) that's running XP, apparently the person I bought it from returned it to "original factory settings" before sending it, & I had some problems running dvds but I downloaded a decoder from NVidia (the manufacturer of the video card) and its okay now.
However, I tried to run Starcraft and it ran fine.... but only in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. For the life of me I can't figure out why. Does anyone know why? Thanks.

Re: Games Running in 1/4 of the screen?
Starcraft is limited to max resolution of 640x480 so that is the reason why it's in upper corner of the screen (and your display is 1440x900)...
I had similar problem a year ago when I played it again after almost 10 years...
Try to play something newer and see if problem persists...

Re: Games Running in 1/4 of the screen?
Well, that doesn't make much sense, since I play it just fine on my two-year-old macbook. & my friend plays Starcraft on his new HP laptop, so I don't think that's the problem.beGi wrote:Starcraft is limited to max resolution of 640x480 so that is the reason why it's in upper corner of the screen (and your display is 1440x900)...

Try to change your video driver settings (or update drivers from lenovo.com), but still you will play it on low res (only thing you can do is stretch picture to match display)...
Re: Games Running in 1/4 of the screen?
Somewhere in nVidia control panel (or whatever that thing is called for nVidia) there should be a setting for full screen for example when you play videos etc. It also applies to games.
Hope this helps

I looked in the NVidia control panel and couldn't find anything that looks like what you're describing. Could someone provide a walk-through? Thanks.Marin85 wrote:Somewhere in nVidia control panel (or whatever that thing is called for nVidia) there should be a setting for full screen for example when you play videos etc. It also applies to games.

Hmm, I don´t have nVidia card, but keywords to look for would be video playback, theater mode... I had been experiencing similar issues with StarCraft, Diablo II and other older games and I was able to fix it by choosing the appropriate setting in ATI Catalyst Control Center, hence I assumed it should be more or less something similar in your case as well... But that might be indeed a very wrong assumption

First, change 'Nvidia control panel' mode to 'extended' view, not 'basic'.doc_jude wrote: I looked in the NVidia control panel and couldn't find anything that looks like what you're describing. Could someone provide a walk-through? Thanks.
These settings located in 'flat display settings' or similar (sorry, my windows are in russian).
You can choose 'Center view', 'Fixed aspect ratio' etc.
