recovery CDs...help!

#1 Post by howhao » Mon Feb 09, 2009 11:00 am

i have a x60 that somehow does not let me access the hidden recovery partition.

the hdd is getting filled and i bought a new 500gb to replace it, but i don't have the recovery CDs.

does anyone have a set of recovery CDs that I can borrow? I have the windows COA on the bottom of the laptop so this would be for legitimate use.

i will buy lunch/beer if someone can help out. i am in SF Bay Area.

THanks.

Didn't you make a Recovery Disk set when you got your new computer?
If not, I think you can order some from Lenovo. Better than "borrowing" a copy of Windows.

There's nothing illegal or unethical about borrowing a set of Windows CDs or Lenovo Recovery CDs for this purpose. The Windows license is associated with the license sticker on the ThinkPad and the unique key that's printed on it.

Which OS are you looking for?

Also if your ThinkPad is running go to all programs and then Thinkvantage. There should be a item for create recovery media. You can make the disks yourself as long as you have a writeable optical drive.

If you don't find recovery CDs/DVDs, you can always clone the existing drive onto the new drive. There are plenty of threads around here on how to do that.
