Sorry if I'm posting some repeat questions here, but I can't seem to find answers. I have a T40 that I've never seen work in the 2 years I've had it. I got it used with no RAM in it at all. I just today got around to putting a stick in it, and tried to get it to boot. There is no display at all on it's monitor or external. I have the one long two short beep indicator on boot up. That leads me to RAM, System Board, or Display according to the web site I looked at before. If this were a display problem would I still be able to get video to an external monitor, or is it definately a MOBO problem?
I do have a spare T20 in working condition kicking around. Are the monitors interchangeable between these two models for testing purposes? As stated, I don't even know if the monitor works at all. I have never gotten any video at all. I shined a flash light into the monitor with it running and could see nothing but pure black.

Re: T40-2373 No Display
Welcome to the forum!
LCDs between T2x and T4x units are not interchangeable AFAIK.
Have you inserted the proper PC2100 or 2700 (DDR 266 or 333) laptop RAM?
If the answer to this question is yes, you're likely looking at a mobo issue.
Good luck.

I got the memory from E-Bay, and as far as I know it's new. It's labeled 1GB, DDR, PC2700, 333MHz, 200 Pin. I'm pretty sure this is the right stuff, but I hope not because a good MOBO seems to be hard to come by.

Not really...tons of them are available, check baisley's ad in the forum's Marketplace, he's a trusted seller around here.
