Ultranav Travel Keyboard, PS/2 Version: Drivers etc question
Hi,
In reference to this ,
I've a question for the members here (and I think that other buyers are or will be interested in an answer).
On the IBM/Lenovo website it's easy to find drivers and software for the USB version of this keyboard, BUT apparently the PS/2 has nothing there.
Now, my feeling is that there should have been something back when the only model sold was the PS/2 one since I remember a lot of time ago seeing on ebay a picture of a full retail package with the sleeve AND a cd....
So, any idea where to find the drivers and the software ? Maybe someone bought a keyboard years ago and still has the cd ?
Are the USB drivers and software fully usable for the PS/2 version, in alternative ? (makes me wonder, in this case, why there's no link or reference on the IBM website...)
Thanks in advance,
Alessandro

I have one, just out of the box, plugged it into the T43 in dock, and in fact, plugged it in HOT and it worked with no drivers needed.

Re: Ultranav Travel Keyboard, PS/2 Version: Drivers etc question
Yep, I've seen that works without drivers BUT some keys are not, and the central mouse button is not.
More, the tap on the trackpoint is not working since for the desktop pc a simple generic keyboard / mouse are inserted.
So, if I want it to work fully... I think some drivers are needed. And some software for mapping the keys and enabling the extra buttons.
The way it is now, even the speed of the trackpoint cannot be tuned... let not speak of the touchpad...
IBM left the ones related to the current USB keyboard.. that permit on that one to fully take advantage of the keyboard. The same things by logic should have been present for the PS/2 version.

The USB drivers work as seen in this previous forum thread regarding a PS/2 travel keyboard.

Re: Ultranav Travel Keyboard, PS/2 Version: Drivers etc question
Thanks, this answers all my questions. More... it's exactly the same situation I'll have (KVM) to face once substituting the main keyboard.
I'll have to do a weird experiment, too, I suppose... I wonder if I can keep both the actual ps/2 mouse & the ultranav "mouse" part ps/2 connector both attached to the same pc/kvm using a split... (I'm casually ending having a split ps/2 cable... don't ask, I simply wanted a ps/2 Y to mouse and keyboard - planned to use it to connect the ultranav keyboard to an X31 - but seems that going for the cheapest ebay article is not always the smartest idea...)

As far as I can tell, everything works, all keys and the central mouse button. The only one I didn't try was Access IBM.mazzinia wrote:Yep, I've seen that works without drivers BUT some keys are not, and the central mouse button is not.

Re: Ultranav Travel Keyboard, PS/2 Version: Drivers etc question
late follow up.. my laziness prevented me to follow the instructions and update the mouse driver until now.
after installing the driver and updating the older, the synaptic that the system has chosen (xp pro) is not giving me options for the central button, the touchpad and the tap for the stick.
is there a synaptic one I should manually choose??
aka, now I am still in the same situation as before installing the driver and updating it....

Re: Ultranav Travel Keyboard, PS/2 Version: Drivers etc question
synaptics ps/2 port pointing device , is what xp insists to pick.
There's a list of other options if I go fully manual, including an IBM Trackpoint ps/2 in an ibm dedicated section.
I suppose this one would be the correct one, but if I try keeps saying is not for this device etc etc, and also informs that will change the keyboard drivers... if manually selected, on the next reboot I do have the trackpoint listed, but also the touchpad and trackpoint are not working and no icon is present on the taskbar (while before was present but with the options grey)
ideas ?
