Intel 965 / X3100 on win7b

#1 Post by n1hilist » Fri Feb 13, 2009 10:27 am

Heya.
Has anyone had any luck with Win 7 on their Thinkpads with Intel 965 graphics? The stock drivers work fine, but there seems to be no OpenGL support, I tried the Vista ones too, but no joy either.

I don't expect too much since it's only a beta, but it would be nice to play some Quake3 during lunch break :D

Ok, I got OpenGL working in Win7 beta with the Intel 965 drivers.

I tried the latest drivers from Intel's site, I chose the ZIP package for the latest 965 Mobility chipset, extracted that to a temp folder, went to device manager, selected the Intel GFX item and went to Update Driver, then chose the option to let me choose the driver, then selected c:\pathtodriver\Graphics for the source, and rebooted.

So far it's working OK, Quake3 runs fine, but slower than in XP/Vista (a little but not much)

Aero must be enabled to use OpenGL though, sadly.
