I have been having recently problems with my internet connection on the T60p running windows XP SP3 with all patches and the ThinkVantage updates installed.
When I connect to the internet via wireless (and also with the ethernet cable), the connection works for a while and suddenly it becomes impossible to connect using either internet-explorer or firefox. IE gives me back a http:/// and firefox hangs.
Interesting enough, the task bar tells that I am still online. I can ping a machine outside without any issues but no web-browser is able to reach out. When I try an FTP I am getting the following error:
ftp:bind :No buffer space is supported
This is getting really frustrating as the only solution is to reboot the laptop. I have tried redoing a clean install than the installation of SP and patches but that did not solve the problem.
As anyone encountered such a problem and found a solution? I would really appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks
Eric
Issues with dropping internet connection
Re: Issues with dropping internet connection
I've encountered a similar, but not quite identical problem. My wireless internet connection drops fairly regularly telling me I have local access only, and if I disconnect and attempt to reconnect, it then tells me "windows cannot see any wireless networks." Only solution is to reboot and then everything is fine . . . until the next time it happens.
Have stopped using Access Connections and using latest driver from Intel's site and latest router firmware but it still does this fairly regularly.
Haven't been able to find a solution that solves the issue yet. Another PC (an HP) sitting right next to me don't have the problem.

Re: Issues with dropping internet connection
Just a thought: Guys, did you try changing all the power management settings for the wireless? If you are behind a router and your wireless exhibits somewhat erratic behavior, everything is possible...

Re: Issues with dropping internet connection
The problem also occurs while using the ethernet cable. Because I can still ping a computer outside, the problems does not seem to be related to a power management issues with the wireless card. If this was the case, I would not be possible to perform a ping.
The ftp error mentioned above is somewhat weird. It looks more and more like a driver and/or buffer overflow issue.
