Re: A real Thinkintosh
I have a strange feeling that, having put up with Windows for a while, after playing with a powerbook, (if I can get one that's up to date enough for internet use but at the same time I can afford it and stand to look at it) I'm going to start throwing rotten apples at my poor ThinkPads. Hard.
Don't worry, The're tough. Too bad Windows isn't.
The trouble is, even if I can afford a PowerBook, the newer ones look even cheaper than Fisher Price. <gag>.
Maybe I should try Linux, but I'm still concerned about getting decent software.

Re: A real Thinkintosh
Just to comfort your concerns:
1. If you are true ThinkPadder, you won´t start "throwing rotten apples at your poor ThinkPads". Consider it as a test to your will (though I fail to understand how someone could like Macs more than ThinkPads, IMO ThinkPads look by far much better than Macs, ah, well maybe except for the new fat bezel line...)
2. I feel Win 7 is going to be a hit when it is once released (I don´t count the beta).
3. To put it simply: if you decide to try out Linux, all I can say is "Linux rocks"... but it needs time. Other than that I agree it´s a problem to find the Linux alternatives for some windows applications. I have yet to find a substitute for Adobe Acrobat Pro
Cheers,
Marin

...and don't forget you can run OS X on a ThinkPad too. We even have a whole forum for this purpose:

From my very limited experience with Macs I like the OS mostyak wrote:...and don't forget you can run OS X on a ThinkPad too. We even have a whole forum for this purpose:

Re: A real Thinkintosh
i used to like the older macs, the pre 2000 macs. after Jobs took over macs became kinda consumer laptop. they used to be build in much better quality, much more rugged.
Re: A real Thinkintosh
> IMO ThinkPads look by far much better than Macs,
After about 1998 or 99, I agree. I like the older dark gray ones with the multi colored apple. The iBook is the ugliest notebook ever.
> If you are true ThinkPadder,
I am a true TRS-80 user. I also like Atari, Commodore, and Apple (non-Mac). Intel is barely tolerable. IBM hardware is some of the best, exept for the intel cpu. IBM operating systems have stunk since the 1960's. Microslop hasn't had a decent product since Multiplan for the Model 4.

Like MS Office or Lotus SmartSuite.

What are the system requirements?

And Cell cpu is pretty powerful...

You're kidding at least about the Office, right?Bookworm wrote:> ...it´s a problem to find the Linux alternatives for some windows applications.

Not quite sure, never had a need for it and I don't like Apple products. Check the forum I linked to.Bookworm wrote:>...and don't forget you can run OS X on a ThinkPad too.
