Thankpad I-series 1400 (2611-412) Power Problem

#1 Post by bigboy0723 » Sun Jan 23, 2005 2:00 am

Hi, I bought for an used I-1400 from eBay recently. The machine looks and runs fine except one problem. It doesn't draw power from the AC adapter, it could only run from the battery. Fortunae that I have another I1400 that can be used to recharge the battery. I took a quick check on the AC connector and didn't notice any loosen connection or broken part. Just wondering would it be some software/driver related problem before I take out the motherboard.

Thanks in advacne.

If you are absolutely 100% positive that the ac adapter you are using works and are 100% sure that the connector is intact, then it sounds like a problem with your DC board. You might want to read the hardware maintenence manual for your ThinkPad to find out the FRU# of that part.

Hi, I am pretty sure the connector and the acadpter are fine. I have been looking the web for the DC/DC converter board. If I am lucky, I might be able to find an used machine for parts.

By the way, it looks like both the CPU and the video ram are soldered onto the motherboard, is it a easy to upgrade the CPU? I have a celerom 336 now, I want to put in a PIII 500.

Thanks for the help.
