Internal flash memory slot in W500???

Hi,

Has anyone seen that little slot behind the battery in the W500 and knows what it is?

If you take out your battery, you will see something that looks like a small SD card slot, that's filled with a white piece of cardboard and has a little plastic foil slip to pull it out.
So I'm curious what that slot actually does. It's not in the manual, and Lenovo didn't reply to my question.
Thanks for anyone who has a good guess of what it may be.
