hello,
I have an issue with my X40 after an update of my thinkadvantage. I updated my thinkadvantage software while update windows xp in the same time with the common updates. After that i activated the security chip to increase the security of my thinkpad after this update. Unfortunately i did that without rebooting.
After the reboot, the security processor starts loading trying to check the status of the security chip, but it doesn't want to stop loading. So i am not able to access my system.
I am lucky enough, i could access my data in command safe mod and was able to plug a usb drive to backup my data. But i wish i could be able to access my data from windows xp. Otherwise, do i have to send my laptop to Lenovo?
Thanks for any help.
Kind regards,
ilias,

Remove the sw you have upgraded while being in safe mode...
