T43 boot problem, doesn't reach boot screen or bios

I'm starting to have problems booting my t43.
When i press the power on button, the fan spins up, the CD-rom makes at few click's(as normal). But then it just stops there, black screen on beep's. It doesn't reach boot screen or bios, keyboard isn't responding(Alt+Ctrl+Delete), it's just dead. The only thing responding is the power button and pulling out the battery.
I have had some luck with the pulling of the battery and pressing the power button, without the battery, don't know if it's because it gets totally discharged, but afterwords it might boot.
If I get it to boot, there are no problems at all, every thing works normally.

Hope some one can help me. I'm fearing it's the end of it.

Do you have a bootable CD? If so, pop it in the CD drive and try booting and report what happens.

I don't have one right now, but I can try when I get home. But I don't get passed the boot screen, so I don't believe it would reach the CD boot either.

It was just a hope that it might work. The reason I mention it is that on the Thinkpad Support & Download site (I use http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... country=uk) you can download an exec that enables you to make a bootable DOS version of PC Doctor. If that were to work then you could do all sorts of diagnostic tests.

Hi sorry for the late answer. It happens kinda random to.
Tried with at a boot able CD, and it didn't boot from it. No problem booting for the CD, if it actually starts and get's passed the bios. Tried to run the PC Doctor(in the case where it starts normally), and it didn't find anything.

That's very odd. If it boots from the CD and can't find PC-Doctor for DOS then are you sure you have made the disk correctly?

If it is any help I have a working Dos bootable version of PC-Doctor and I am happy to copy it and send it to you in the post ... it takes a couple of days.

If that would help then PM your name and address and I'll get it to you as soon as I can.

What I meant, was that PC-Doctor doesn't find any problems with the computer, when it's possible to boot.
