Upgrade Intel PRO/Wireless 2200bg NIC in T43p to 802.11n ???
I have a T43p 2668-PDU with the original Intel NIC which supports 802.11b and 802.11g. Is there a firmware upgrade for this NIC which will support 802.11n, or do I need an entirely new card. Would prefer a permanently installed solution to a plug-in PCMCIA/CardBus adapter, although I know that such plug-in adapters are available..

This is NOT going to work.
You'll hit the "1802" error and there's no by-passing it on T43/p.
Not to mention the fact that the machine is not properly pre-wired for a "n" card.

Yes, T43/R52s are very restrictive. There are now 2 antennae port cards that doesn't need the 3rd antenna. I have one in my T42.

Hi,
citizenNB
Well, as far as I know Zender provides a modified BIOS, and his hidden feetback list states it works. But the page is down and I can't remember which WLAN card with which chip on it was used and which functions not work. I guess, it was Fn+F5 or the WLAN LED. So, how ever, write a PM to user Zender. But be careful, installing such a modified BIOS causes losing warranty.ajkula66 wrote:This is NOT going to work.

There are situations where one has no choice but to mod the BIOS, case in point being erik's FrankenPad X61s with an AFFS LCD.
There are also situations when the solution, although maybe not a perfect one, can be obtained without putting one's machine at the risk-however minimal-of becoming a door stopper. In my book, upgrading to an "n" card is one of these situations.
My $0.02 only...
