Maintenance disk for a T61 Widescreen

#1 Post by TTA » Tue Feb 17, 2009 3:16 pm

My local service center replaced a motherboard in a T61 and didn't set the system unit serial number or UUID in a T61 I had them repair for a customer of mine.
Now my customer is looking at me funny and wants his system unit serial number set. I gave him a copy of Maint 174 (the newest maintenance disk I have) and he says it doesn't work.
Does anyone here have a current maintenance disk that will work in a T61.
Thanks
Jim

1.74 works on a T61. When you see the IBM splash screen, you need to hit ESC a couple of times to unlock the eeprom.

That's what I told him (all I have are T60's here though so I couldn't test it myself) he claims it doesn't work.
I'll drive to his office tomorrow and do it.
Thanks

It needs to run from a real floppy. You cannot use bootable CD or memory stick. They look like they are working, but you don't unlock the eeprom.

That could be the problem. I'll ask. I sent him an image via email. He very well could have made a CD or USB key. Obviously I always use a floppy (the whole reason I keep my A31p around) :)
