I too am pretty confident it will work, just wanted to ask and see if anyone had any first-hand experience with the T43.
Worse case, if it doesn't want to play nice, I'll just throw it in the PATA Ultrabay and use it that way (it will still save me from carrying around an external USB HDD).
I bet I could probably also boot from it in the Ultrabay & completely remove the primary HDD. Hmm, something to try!
BTW, I assume this is the largest PATA/IDE drive currently made correct?
I checked Hitachi's, Seagate, & WDC's sites and almost all of their drives are now SATA.

I wish I could reply specificly to your question, but unfortunately I cannot, since I am a "T42'er". However, I just wanted to report here that I received one of these WD3200BEVE HDD's the other day, and installed it in a T42p. Initialized, partitioned, formatted, and then cloned it (using Acronis True Image ver. 9), all under Win XP Pro SP2, everything went with no problems. The T42p'er "sees" all 320 GB (300 GB binary, as usual), so no BIOS limitation with respect to that size.
I have now run with it for a couple of days, and the initial observations is that it is quite fast and cool, although I cannot say for sure whether or not it has a slight amount of periodical "whooosh" (seeking or calibration?) noise; not the clicking noise that some WD HDD's have been known to have... but still something clearly audible, for noise-picky users such as I!
I hope to return later with some more feedback. But, the message for now: This drive works OK ina T42 w/Win XP Pro SP2.
