How do I make a DOS bootable cd?

#1 Post by AnitaC » Thu Feb 19, 2009 1:14 pm

Can anyone tell me how to go about making a bootable cd that will boot to DOS? Maybe some kind of guide for dummies? :??: I've been searching the net and still have no idea how to create that kind of cd.

I'm trying to get my HPA from my old hard drive to my new drive using the fwbackup and fwrestor utilities, as mentioned in this thread about HDD cloning, but I need to boot to DOS with the new and empty drive in the thinkpad, so I can't use the CMD shell.

Any help will be appreciated!

Have a look at: http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

or use these instructions:

Creating a Windows XP boot disk

Place a blank CD in the computer.

Open My Computer, right-click the CD drive and click Format.

In the Format window, check Create an MS-DOS startup disk.

Click Start

I forgot to add that I have a Win 98 DOS bootable disk in my possession. If you want a copy then PM me and I'll copy it and send in the post (Denmark is a mere sneeze away, and no more than 2 days by post) ... all I need is your name and address.

In an older version of Roxio, there is an option to burn a bootable cd from a disk image, in which case you could just download a diskimage off the internet and burn it, and you can add files onto the cd after, just make sure you get a boot disk with cd drivers. (win98)

Version 10 has this capability. Not sure about the latest version which is version 11 though.
