CD not visible on X21 with CD Drive in X2 dock:

This same X21 has previously booted from CD using the more capable Dock, that is the Dock that has a PCI slot in addition to the storage slot. On this less capable Dock, the CD Drive is invisible.
It doesn't show up in the boot menu or in the BIOS boot sequence.

I must be missing some simple thing? Please advise.

Can you clarify which docks you are talking about? Do you have model numbers? I only know of two docks with CD drives. Both have PCI slots though.

I noticed that an HDD in its Caddy won't plug into this Media Slice. The CD/DVD plugs in fine, but isn't visible in the BIOS boot list. The HDD works fine in another X2 Media Slice which has the same P/N, but a different FRU P/N.

The Media Slice where CD/DVD and HDD work fine:

I'm truly puzzled!
