Tip: a hard carrying case for ultrabay slim devices

#1 Post by davidhbrown » Fri Feb 20, 2009 4:59 pm

I've been looking for a carrying case for whichever of the ultrabay slim devices I'm not using in my T61p at the time. Found I already had it on my shelf... a 12-CD hard case from Case Logic (their model RP-12, about US$6). With no CDs inserted, the CD pages provide a little bit of cushioning (half on each side), and I can't hear or feel the device (SATA drive in adapter) wiggling around at all with moderate shaking in my hand.

If you decide to use one of these this, you'll notice that there's a bar across the spine of the case that holds the CD pages. I found that the fit is best if I position the little tab at the back of the ultrabay device to rest on top of this bar.

YMMV, of course. Hope this helps someone; a web search for the topic found only the question on other forums; already being registered here, I thought I'd put a possible answer out.
