Hi All,

How do I determine the installed version of the Rescue & Recovery software on my new T42?

Also, am I correct by thinking that as soon as I create the recovery CDs that the partitiion where all this info is loaded in C: will be automatically deleted by the system?

Start it from the Access IBM Program Group, then after it starts, do Help>About.

The answer to your second question is no. It is redundant.

Thank you for your quick reply.

When i press the Access IBM button, I do not see the Program Group! What do you mean by this?

Also, I do not see a Help-->About option! Please advice.

Hi Leon,

Is it recommended to uninstall the IBM Rapid Restore Ultra v4.0 befoe installing the 'new' Rescue and Recovery v2.0 software?

Also, it is going to take me ages to download the 403MB file! Is there a simpler and faster option? Even IBM Download Director estimates the download time to be around 25 hours with a broadband connection!

Hi All,

How come I have 'IBM Rapid Restore Ultra v4.0' listed in Start-->Programs-->Access IBM, and in Start-->Control Panel-->Add or Remove Programs I have 'IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore' listed? Are these two program one and the same? Please let me know

yes, you should uninstall. the download did not take me that long. Rescue and Recovery is the portion that is in the hidden partition, while Rapid Restore is the windows portion. Add/Remove will remove both portions, and the new version will update both portions....

Hi Leon,

Thank you for all your help.

I have been able to successfully download and install R&R v2.0 without any problems.

The entire download time was approximately 1-1/2 hours! he installation took another 45 minutes!
