Where to download Windows 7 Beta

#1 Post by mulambo187 » Sat Feb 21, 2009 1:38 pm

Greetings,
I signed up for the Windows 7 Beta got a legit CD key, unfortunatly it is no longer available to download from microsoft, so I figure I will now have to find the .iso elsewhere.

Can someone post the md5 checks from an iso they downloaded from the Microsoft source? Or can they link to a good torrent or direct download ?

If this is not allowed I apolgize, it was freely available from Microsoft, and as far as I know anyone is still entitled to a free legit key if they sign up on their site. I am going to run the beta on my R32, thanks for yall time. Jah bless.

It's not hard, I know one of you has the legit microsoft iso so I will repeat:

Can someone post the md5 checks from an iso they downloaded from the Microsoft source?

Thank you for your time.

Many popular torrent sites have had the ISO since before Microsoft even had it available to download from their site.

Just look for build 7000, and compare the MD5 hashes posted.

Don't bother with build 7000. There are a few new builds out on the torrents now, and RTM is only a few weeks off (possibly April 10th)

But why don´t we get newer builds via windows update  ... (I guess it´s a rhetorical question...) or respectively direct from M$. What´s the point in beta-testing old builds... :??:

For good reason.
The changes could be substantial enough to warrant a new build (ie. weed out bad code) and a fix may not be necessary to make the changes (at least not with 100% of systems)

Thanks, I understand this, but if the changes are that substantial, again I fail to see the point in testing the older builds... (available to the public) Is there any chance the M$ will make further builds officially available to the public again (I assume this could be the case with RC)?

Pre-release builds (alpha, beta, RC, or RTM) are never meant to be used as the sole OS. Some, like myself, make that decision with the understanding that it is full of bugs and that there is risk involved. I know that with each week that goes by there will be improvements to those bugs which won't be released as updates but rather as builds. Therefore, I will upgrade to the newer builds after a few weeks/months of testing the previous build. That's the name of the game here. MS gains nothing by making a free OS - and the purpose of the beta is not to be free but rather to get a lot of feedback for free while providing a glimpse at how cool a new OS will be months before it is released.

Hope this clears things up

Cheers

Well i decided to try out the Win 7.
I got the key from Microsoft. But the download link is no more.
I new to all this beta stuff, but after looking all over the net i see there is Win 7 7068 is the newest one.
I looked at some torrent sites and don't really know what is a good or bad copy.Theres many many diffrent ones on there.

I hope i'm not breaking any forum rules by asking where to get the 7068 Win7 too.?Since i did reg with Microsoft and got the key.

The only wide public beta release was build 7000. There have been no more public releases since then, and the key you have for build 7000 does not entitle you to use anything but build 7000 for the duration of its test period.

If you want risk downloading supposed leakes of later closed beta test build from torrent sites, then you are entirely on your own as to what you actually get.

Given what I have been reading about new issues arising in recent builds, it seems to me like its hardly worth the effort in any case.

Build 7057 is Windows 7 RC1. Build 7068 is a newer build. I'm running RC1 right now, but I'm very interested in this 7068.

Will the public Release Candidate be build 7057 when it's released in May (recently announced by MS)?

Let me know if you try out 7068 x64.

Another question: is it possible to upgrade from one Windows7 build to another build without formatting and reinstalling it? I wouldn't mind being able to take advantage of new builds without having to keep formatting.

Yes - I haven't tried it myself but several colleagues have done so with no adverse affects.. so far :?

And have a look at keznews.com for download info.
