That they all come with Ubuntu (or no OS at all)?

edit: Okay, since I was beaten out by yak, how about that the majority of them are Dells?

well, yeah, obviously, i hope.. :)

interesting that the thinkpad has no OS..
and i wonder why as they all should have a windows COA someplace on each machine..
unless they were all sold with linuk which would be a stretch..

Bill, Did IBM sell Thinkpads with no OS? A few years ago I seem to recall buying an R40e on behalf of my mother-in-law and it had no OS. It was quite simple to get the recovery disks from IBM so I could load it with XP Pro. Maybe it should have had XP Pro as standard? :?

Yes, but to large corporate customers only. I've owned quite a few ThinkPads that had no COA and no OS when they left the factory, and parts lookup verified that...

@ajkula66. It wasn't a problem. Lenovo were great and supplied the disks. My mother in law was happy ... so everyone was happy ... if you catch my drift. :)

When I was in Washington DC years ago there was a man who sold flowers who said, "If you buy my flowers then you keep the lovely ladies happy. If you keep the lovely ladies happy then we'll all be happy!"

Sound logic, it seems.

It's also possible -- but not necessarily easy -- to get the Windows tax refunded after you've bought a PC that has Windows installed. See for example Lenovo won't refund the Windows tax without an NDA.

From Criticism of Microsoft
An end user can return Windows for a refund by refusing to agree to the Microsoft End User License Agreement. The Microsoft EULA specifically mentions that if you do not agree to the license you can return the product for a full refund. Vendors may have a policy of charging for the provision of the refund such that the balance received by the customer is as low as $10, despite this being a violation of consumer protection law in many countries. A certain number of customers were refunded of their Windows licence, whether using the EULA or not, whether through an agreement or through court.

Bill Gates

I would love to use a bolt-in replacement to winblows
Unfortunately, my company feels Gates walks on water
I used Linspire on a desktop for quite awhile.
Tried to install it on a laptop and it was a no go
I have no patience, nor the desire to learn command line.
It needs to drop in and run
Winblows does that

What exactly was a "no-go"? I've used Linspire for quite a while, on A31p which is very similar to T30 when it comes to hardware, with no issues whatsoever. No command line was known by myself at the time...

As for "drop in and run", T30 that I've sold you was running Mint in my house, out of the box...
