Which thinkpad for My Work

#1 Post by sheffrem » Sun Feb 22, 2009 2:18 am

Hi all, long no see.
After leaving my balck macbook because it was slower than the R52 that i use to have, and had to be cleaned all the time....well dont want to get anyone hungry so i stop here.
I'm now into web site developpment, graphic design and would like to know which think pad is best suited for my needs, plus i should be stylished to impress the clients to, has i want them to admire my work on a beauty. I would preffer the x series, and willing to spend around 600 $, (i can also get back my macbook for 800$) but for some reason that will be long to explain i cant spend more than 600$ on the thinkpad.

In that price range the only choices are an X60 or X61. Perhaps an X31/X32 would be comparable to your old R52, not an upgrade though.

I am thinking of US prices and availability, the situation may be different where you are.

Flexible? What do you mean?

The X61 has faster cpus than the X60, since it came after.

They are as light as any Core Duo ThinkPad will ever be...at today's prices (I don't know the market in Ghana, but here in the US) X60 is a bargain-basement mini-powerhouse.

My $0.02 only...

The X40 have slow CPUs and very slow 4200RPM drives. I don't like them. An X31/X32 would be better, if the X60 is out of your price range.
Current: X220 4291-4BG, T410 2537-R46, T60 1952-F76, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G
Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad
Past: Z61t 9440-A23, T60 2623-D3U, X32 2884-M5U

Usually you'd have to deal with import taxes in your country too, which often makes stuff alot more expensive.

You can post a WTB thread in the Marketplace
