Fn keys and bluetooth no longer functioning (T500)

#1 Post by lazuli » Mon Feb 23, 2009 6:43 am

windows 7 on my T500 was flawless until yesterday when Fn+F3, F5, F7 and F8 suddenly refused to work. even with the hardware radio switch on, i can't power on bluetooth with fn+f5. Bluetooth doesn't show up in the device manager.

i tried uninstalling all drivers and thinkvantage utilities to no avail. any more suggestions?

Have you installed any updates? These things don´t stop working all of a sudden without particular reason. It could have been also some windows update or some scheduled task (like defragging or registry "cleaning" if you have such a program installed). Check out the task scheduler, it may give you some hint what to look for.

I am not sure if you have the same version of hotkey features that I have, but the following is in the readme file of mine.

Code: Select all

i finally solved this issue but i don't know exactly how i managed to get the hotkeys working again.. it must by some specific order in installing the drivers, sadly i don't remember which ones i installed first. i still can't make fn+f7 work but the rest are a-ok! i used the latest drivers from the support site..

UPDATE:
finally got fn+f7 to work.. i just copied the fnf7.exe (and its dll) from the folder NPDIRECT to HOTKEY and the hotkey combination worked right off the batt, not even requiring a restart! thanks to all who replied!
