Memory in 600

#1 Post by jjmclean » Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:22 pm

I'm trying to put 2 sticks of 128 PC66 SDRAM memory in my 2645 600 thinkpad. It's supposed to be the right memory for it but when I try to start up it makes a little woodpecker noise and just shows the black IBM Thinkpad screen and also shows 228800 KB OK in the upper left corner, doesn't try to load. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Jerry

Never mind. It just wanted to be played with a little. I went back and started over putting a 128 and a 32 in, it started fine. Shut down and put a 64 in with the 128 and it started fine, then I went back to the two 128 and right now it's working fine however it's showing 32MB less than what's actually in it. It showed 32 less in all the above steps. I guess it's always done that and I just haven't noticed. Is this normal and where in the devil is the missing 32?
Thanks

That is odd. On my 600E with two 128MB sticks, I see 288MB in the upper lefthand corner at boot.
