Hi,
Has anybody used DVD Region-Free from DVD idle.com with powerDVD 5.0?

My housmate used it on her HP. Worked perfectly. If you are not sure, try the trial version first.

Another approach is to use this freeware http://www.dvdshrink.info/ to copy the DVD to your HD. Not only will it remove regions coding and prohibited user operations, but it can also strip out extraneous stuff (foreign language, director's commentary, etc.) as well as compress the video/audio. You can easily compress a DVD by 50% without noticeable loss of quality when played back on a notebook LCD or old TV.

I use DVDShrink to copy movies onto my notebook HD so that I can watch them while travelling without having to carry the media with me.

DVD Shrink is great, however i always use DVD Decryptor to remove CSS Encryption and then i strip it down in DVD Shrink, DVD Decryptor just has a better engine for it ive found.
