T400 Undocking and Hibernating

#1 Post by manymajors » Thu Mar 05, 2009 5:43 pm

Hopefully you experts can help out a lowly beginner...

How can one undock and hibernate at the same time?

If I hibernate the computer, the undocking process wakes it up!
if is undock first, I then have to open the computer, to shut it back down again.

my less sophisticated T42 certainly did not have this problem....

any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

FYI, the latest BIOS version is 2.03. However, I went through the whole changelog and I don´t see anything there that might be indicating a solution to any issue similar to yours (for reference see here) :? I assume your ThinkPad is still under warranty, so you may want to contact Lenovo on this problem.

EDIT: typo...

there MUST be a setting, or a way to have it undock THEN hibernate.
can the undock 'program' be called and then have a another routine to call hibernation go after?

there is on the start menu an 'undock' selection, but no way to customize it...

I´m not aware of any such settings or workarounds. But others may know more about it.

On my T61p with Win XP, when I open the Power Manager, and go to the Global Power Settings tab, then there is an "Advanced..." button. Clicking on that button brings up another window. One of the options there is "Undock action" with three possible alternatives: no action, standby, hibernate.
I've never tried it myself, but is that what the OP is looking for?
