SecStartDelay and SecWinUptime
i've read it over and over and sorta get it but sorta don't,
is there not an easier way to explain that?
i have tpfancontrol running as a service, and i'm trying to get the system tray icon to show up every time i sign on any of the user accounts, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
i'd like it to be in the system tray for all accounts even when multiple accounts are signed on at once.
possible?

sorry, but this innocent little tool has been NOT designed to be a multiuser application. there only should be one instance, application or service, running with at most one additional icon (tpfcicon.exe).

oh ok, i thought that was the point of starting it as a service.

even signed in on one account, i can't seem to get the icon to show up every startup. i have it installed as a service, and have tried a few different numbers for SecStartDelay and SecWinUptime, still unsure what they do.

i used to use an earlier version and it wasn't a problem... but i like the new icon when it does show up

Running TPFanControl as service in WinXP: it will run from startup and is independent from user login. Users with restricted rights are not able to stop the service or alter TPFanControl.ini . There is no menue item "End Program" in the menue of icon of TPFanControl service.

TPFanControl.com says: mind the TPFanControl.ini values SecWinUptime =120 [sec.] and SecStartDelay =60 [sec.] (default values, you can have them set to zero, if you encounter no problems after). To prevent communication errors between TPFanControl and embedded controller and systray icons missing, TPFanControl will sleep 60 sec. ("SecStartDelay=60", just after program or service startup) if TPFanControl is started within a period of 120 sec. ("SecWinUptime=120") after your Thinkpad has been powered on, because at boot time there is a lot of communication to the embedded controller by other applications.

If there is still a problem with the new text icon missing, as another work around start with .ini:

switch to text icon by icon menu.

edit: now program or service can have up to 8 additional icons simultaneously on different accounts by tpfcicon.exe/tpfcicon_noballons.exe, try TPFanControl v0.60 SecWinUptime & SecStartDelay no longer needed.

edit2: program/service behavior at user log off completely reworked TPFanControl v0.61.
