XP downgrade w/ Recovery CD's

#1 Post by diaz1023 » Sat Mar 07, 2009 11:58 pm

Hi everyone, I want to use XP pro and have the recovery CD's provided from lenovo. I have read some threads and they don't seem to answer the question I have. Do I need to download the drivers myself from the lenovo website for my T61p? Wouldn't the recovery CD's have these already? Also I have read that when wanting to use XP on a machine that had Vista originally installed, I would need to se the BIOS to compatability mode? Can someone please confirm. TIA

The recovery CDs include not only all the drivers, but also all Lenovo preloaded applications. After performing a recovery from the CDs, all this stuff will have been installed on your ThinkPad.

Cheers,

Don't forget to back up all your data files before using the recovery disks.

Don't forget to burn your Vista restore DVD's before downgrading - there's no going back without them.

i was lucky enough to have the vista business dvd's sent to me when i first recieved the computer. I also had the info cloned to a newer 500gb drive and used the xp recovery disks on the original 160gb harddrive.
