Super fast x40/41/41t with Mton SSD?

#1 Post by legbone » Sun Mar 08, 2009 8:19 pm

I'm a big fan of x40 and x41.
They are super light, fast and IBM.

One thing that I was dissatisfied with them was transfer rate.
With the Hitachi HDD, it showed only 16MB/s.
Now with Mtron 3018 SSD, it brings 75MB/s.

I used to use x60 a couple of years but the palmrest heat (bc of the wireless card) made me release it.
Now with SSD, I cannot say to live without it.

There needs a remodeled cable for the SSD because Mtron 1.8'' SSD is zif type.
If you need it, feel free to PM me.

The following is the link that describes the way I give you the service.

Thanks. :)

That sounds great. You made a great performer again despite its age out of that piece of engineering art! To be honest, I´m starting considering buying an older classic ThinkPad (by older, I mean older than my Z61p, but not way too old) and maxing it out. An upgrade like the Mtron SSD can make almost every new machine envy (excluding those that are shipped with a SSD).

Enjoy it! :)

The really good thing about the MTRON SSDs are they are available in with a SLC design, but this also means they are more expensive.

Personally I am looking to get a MTRON SSD when I pick up a X40.

thank you, legbone, for raising our conciousness on X41 with MTRON 32gb SSD.

my X41 with MTRON MOBI 3000 32gb SSD is very quick, indeed runs 10 times or more faster than stock 60GB HDD. it is now most pleasant to use.
