Missing 8MB of RAM

#1 Post by tbu3 » Tue Jan 25, 2005 7:15 pm

I just got my R51 3 weeks ago. It comes with 256 MB RAM and Intel Extreme Graphics 64 MB video RAM. Windows XP's system info reports I only have 248 MB RAM while BIOS reports a complete 256 MB. I upgraded to 512 MB and still 8 MB is missing. Anyone care tell me where it went?

Your computer has intel extreme graphics which uses part of your system memory as your video memory, therefore, it is your video "card" that is stealing your memory. your computer is just fine

Because the amount used can vary depending on what's being displayed on the unit and what processes are running that require video memory. 8MB is the minimum that will be used, up to a maximum of 64MB.
