what RAM and PCMCIA wireless card for x21?

#1 Post by n00b1337 » Wed Jan 26, 2005 12:55 am

What 256mb RAM would be the best for a thinkpad x21? Will getting a CAS 2 type RAM make any difference over a CAS 3? Does the x21 even support lower CAS 2 timings? Is there any difference between Kingston, Crucial and IBM branded RAM? Finally I checked out some RAM from ebay and they all said they were 16 chip RAMs. Is there another type with different amount of chips and which ones are the best?

What's the best PCMCIA wireless card for an x21? Is going with a IBM branded card better in terms of compatibility and performance? I saw a SMC card in a magazine that looked pretty cool and seemed to have a good range. Just wondering,I don't mind getting either but obviously I'd like the one that works the best.

Thx in advance.

I have this one, and it works excellent, no problems at all.

you will most likely see no difference in ram. adding more yes, cas2 vs cas3 no. your better off getting more ram, and a faster hard drive. that will improve your preformance greatly.

its not a desktop where u can boost the ram, and overclock it.
