T61 restore problem.

#1 Post by nmyron » Mon Mar 16, 2009 2:27 am

I hope someone can help me with this issue.
I did a an idiotic thing right after I received my T61. The computer I got came with XP Pro and no recovery media with any kind. I have Vista Ultimate and was so excited to tried out the Vista and instead of learn more about ThinkVantage and performed system restore properly. I went ahead and performed full window backup under XP. However, I didn't have any floppy drive so I didn't make a floppy disc as requested by backup utility. I did manually copied all of the files that required for restoration (I think I am right). I came accross somewhere online about some kind of log.*** file that should also have...but I don't.

Here are the files that I have.
asr.sif 3KB.
asrpnp.sif 18KB
main backup file.bkf 8,375,442 KB. This file is currently on my external USB hard drive. (not on multiple CDs or DVDs)

I have been doing lots of searching online to create and bootable USB stick in place of an floppy drive to perform a restore back to original condition but find it difficult to do or quite confusing.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
