hibernation

Hi Ive been trying to optimize my setup for my new IBM T42 2378fvu ... this machine is bad [censored]. My problem is I want my laptop to NOT hibernate when I close the screen if my AC adapter is plugged in, but hibernate if the AC adapter is not plugged in? Ive been manually changing the settings so far. Is there a way i can set this up? Thanks.
