Access Connections error on startup

#1 Post by daniel996 » Tue Mar 17, 2009 6:54 am

Hi All,

Running 32 bit build of 7057, and I have most things working - except Access Connections. When I login after Windows startup I get a popup "Access Connections cannot run on this platform".

After investigating further I can open Access Connections and connect to any of my profiles just fine - if I go into Global Settings - Notification and try to enable the "Show Access Connections status icon in task tray" I get the popup message again. So it seems it's just the system tray icon that causes the problem (I didn't get this error with build 7000).

It's slightly frustrating, as an onsite engineer I use Access Connections several times a day to connect to different client's networks. Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers
Dan

What build are you referencing? I have Access Connections 5.20 Build 7XCV14WW running on my Vista Business 64-bit machine, and there is a V5.2 at Lenovo for XP (which I imagine to be 32-bit). I am not having any issues with the System Tray or connection. What build 7057 then are you referencing?

He is referring to a build of Windows 7 Beta, not Access Connections.

If it Windows 7 beta, then it is just that. A beta piece of software not actually intended to necissarily run what we need. ... JDH

I'm fully aware of the pitfalls of running beta software and I am happy to accept that some things just won't work, and I don't hold the vendor accountable if XYZ utility written for Vista does not work on Windows 7. I was hoping some other users may have also experienced this issue and discovered a work-around they could post.

(I am not one of the many who post "shame on Vendor X for not fully supporting Windows 7 even though it won't be released for nearly a year"...)

Cheers
Dan
