X41 with CF

#1 Post by erchni » Wed Mar 18, 2009 4:39 pm

Hi has anyone tried putting a compact flash card in a X41 with a converter. I am wondering if it would work and if there is enough room for it. I know there are converters available. I yest don't know if they will work in a X41. Especially with its sata to pata interface. It should work i would think since compact flash uses pata with a different pin configuration.
And a 32 GB card is enough room for me. Here in Denmark you can get at compact flash card from Kingston with 32 GB space and 133x speed. Kingston says minimum 25 MB/s read and 20 MB/s right for 580 kr or 100$ about although i have not seen any real world test it would be faster then the standard drive especially when you take in to account the latency being under 1 ms.

LOL. no worries.

Welcome to the group! :thumbs-UP:

Last year I tried using a 8gb card, and while benchmarks showed the hard drive running faster, I personally didn't feel the performance increase justified the expense.
Besides, with the bios warning on boot, my boot time didn't decrease too much anyway. :??:
I'm running Linux and it seems that the vast majority of people are running Windows. At least for Linux, it didn't make enough of a tangible difference for me.

I'm positive everyone else on the forum will tell you otherwise, but whatever. That's my experience with it.
