SSD or HS122JC for X40

#1 Post by dwilsonfl » Thu Mar 19, 2009 10:25 pm

My X40 is pretty much the perfect sized laptop for me. Having said that, I'd like it to be faster. So I've been looking at the Samsung HS122JC with Zif adapter, and more recently the 32GB SSDs.

32 GB is plenty for me as I work off a server and use GDocs and Dropbox to store files on.

If speed, not capacity is the primary decision matrix, should I go SSD? (price being about the same)

I put a Mtron Mobi 1.8" ZIF 32GB SSD in my X40 and it has spoiled me. Applications just seem more responsive overall. I briefly stuck the original drive back in and what a difference from the SSD. Unless I need the capacity, I won't ever go back to a regular HDD in my X40.

Mtron Mobi 1.8" ZIF 32GB SSD is a good choice. They are easy to find in ebay.
