T60p returned from EasyServ what is this they replaced?

#1 Post by toddreg » Fri Mar 20, 2009 11:17 am

I sent it in for a loose right click button on the touchpad. They replaced the entire palmrest for me.

In addition however as a result of their diagnostics they replaced something with this description- ROHS Planar Card ASM ATI M56-2. I am guessing this is the video card? If so, there didn't appear to be any issues, none that I was aware of. Is this typically an item that has issues and is this a decent vid card if in fact that is what the replaced part was.

And, why in the *%$#)%$*&% did they reinstall windows, now everything is GONE and I have to reinstall all my apps? Errrgggghhh

They replaced your motherboard...

Video card can't be replaced in its own right on a T6x unit...

NEVER ever send anything to EasyServ that isn't part of the problem. In fact, unless you're having problems with your HDD, don't send it. I'm very sorry to hear about your experience with them. :(

Weird! Here the IBM service people won't touch anything on the HD, unless you give them a signed piece of paper indicating you understanding and approval of losing the HD contents. I bet you can sue them if they do. I wonder whether it is implicit with EasyServ...

Because you haven't checked the box asking for a "yes" or "no" answer on whether you wanted your HD replaced/re-imaged. Ez Serv sheet (looking at it right now) clearly states, in big bold black letters:

WARNING! IF YOU DON'T CHECK EITHER OF THE BOXES BELOW, IBM WILL PRESUME THAT YOU HAVE AGREED TO HAVE YOUR HARD DRIVE REIMAGED OR REPLACED.
