LCD display Of T43 -Dull

#1 Post by raptorhertz » Fri Mar 20, 2009 2:57 pm

I am not happy with display of T43, it's very dull and pale looking. I have Compaq M2000 series 15.4" laptop, it beats down the t43 in display, even at full brightness t43 clearly looks dull and dark then Compaq which is running on three levels lower then full brightness. Will upload the pic to make a comparison,Can you plz suggest way out to brighten up the screen so that the viewing is lively and pleasant.

Most likely it's the backlight on the T43, I have the same issue on my T41p. James here does CCFL replacement, he might post here to get in touch with you. You can get his contact from his website http://www.arndtcomputer.com

What could be the cost involved in replacement of the back light? Is it the worth to replace the LCD or backlight, considering it's a 4 yr old machine.
Compaq machine is running with ATIradeon Express 200M,512mb ram and AMD ML-32 1.6ghz CPU.

Plan A. Get a better camera.

Plan B. Get rid of dissappointing Thinkpad, live happily ever after with the Compaq.

Okay, joking's over.

Plan C. Use Thinkpad Configuration, click on LCD, set "Brightness when running on batteries," change from Normal to High. Expect decreased runtime on batteries. But installing a new battery is muuuuuuch easier than replacing the display backlight.

Plan D. Get a screen cleaner wipe, clean both screens to make sure it's not buildup contributing to the dullness.

Your two computers were designed for different markets. The 14 inch T4x were designed for portability while the Compag was aimed at the home desktop replacement market. So the displays selected for each look different and have different power dissipation.

There are a few desktop replacement versions within the Thinkpad family such as G series.

I use a 15 inch T42p as my main home computer and it works reasonably well in desktop replacement role.

My kids all have 14 inch T43 and X series as they require mobility and long battery life.
