T43 LCD Broken...
T43 LCD Broken...
New here....
My wife's T43 took a spill out of the hatch of our car....back plane hit the pavement....probably fell around 28" or so.....didn't even scratch the case....all works, boots, etc.....but no LCD.....thoughts? Backlight blown? I'm pretty handy......so if someone suggests replacing, I could probably do that....maybe a connector inside popped off? Any feedback is appreciated...

Re: T43 LCD Broken...
Sorry to hear about the accident. Welcome to the forum.
Can you see a really faint image if you shine a light on the LCD? If you can see an image such as the boot splash screen, then the the CCF backlight is likely broken in the impact.

Yep...that's it...I can see the faint image. This is a 2668, btw. Options? Should I get on the bay and look for a new one? Can I replace the screen or the light? Thanks for the help.

If you are handy with a fine soldering iron and have very steady hands, you could replace the CCFL (or backlight) yourself.
See http://www.lcdparts.net for all the info and prices.
If you don't feel up to this rather fiddly job, user Jamiphar has a large post about replacing these for you (see the Marketforum).

If you have a 14 inch XGA, there are plenty of complete top half on eBay for around $50. You still need to be handy enough to open up the computer and replace it.

Far safer than eBay is posting a WTB ad in the forum's Marketplace.
Make sure to list the full 7-character model number (2668-???) and I'm sure that you'll get the issue resolved in no time.

Conventional wisdom yes. I got a really noisy T43 fan from a member here but a really quiet one from eBay.ajkula66 wrote:Far safer than eBay is posting a WTB ad in the forum's Marketplace.
