I have a Thinkpad T30. What all should I put in my signature to help you guys with any issues I may have in the future?
Just reinstalled winxp pro from the image on the hard drive and updated it to SP2.
got my aftermarket wireless card working. my no1802 hack still works after the reimage which is a nice surprise.
one thing that bugs me tho is the error I get at startup about having more than one Ethernet card installed. is there anything I can do about this? or do I just have to live with it?
also, when I do have my Laptop plugged into a LAN cord, at startup it wants to check something and shows a mac address. not sure what this is checking but whenever I dont have a cord plugged in there it throws another error.
can anything be done about these?
I also have the common memory slot issue with it separating from the motherboard. I have a friend who is good with an iron that will be taking care of this one for me so I can upgrade to 512mb that I already have.

Welcome to thinkpads.com!
Best thing to put in your signature line is the TYPE number of your system (e.g. 2366-85U). I think that the boot error can be bypassed with the Escape key. Not sure if there's a way around it; use the Search feature here to see if you can find more information. Same goes for the MAC address at startup (not much experience with T30s, sorry). Hang around and I'm sure somebody will come along with the right answers. Me, I'm just the welcome wagon

Re: New Member, Few Questions
so, where do I find the type number of my laptop? is it on the bottom somewhere?
I am aware of the esc. key bypass, but I just amd sick of having to hit it every time the computer reboots.
Thanks!

It should be on a sticker on the bottom. If not, just boot into the BIOS and you'll see it there.Growlertdi wrote:so, where do I find the type number of my laptop? is it on the bottom somewhere?
