Hard drive caddy to dual boot?

#1 Post by eskimochaos2 » Wed Mar 25, 2009 5:15 pm

Can you use the hard drive caddy to dual boot OS's? Meaning can I have xp on the caddy hd and vista on the regular one? Would I simply select which drive to boot from each time I turn on my computer?

Thanks in advance.

I do that on my T42 ThinkPad. Press F12 at the beginning of the boot sequence, then choose which drive to boot from.

Other than having the harddrive caddy, is there anything else that needs to be done in order to make this work. I have xp on a 160gb harddrive and vista business on a 500gb harddrive. TIA

To use the F12 key and choose which hard drive to boot from, you should remove the main hard drive while you install your new OS on the second hard drive. Once you boot into the new OS, then shutdown and reinstall the main hard drive.
