X30 Power-On Password

#1 Post by noznika01 » Thu Mar 26, 2009 5:21 am

Two weeks ago I came across an abused X30 in a pile of garbage near a container of what appeared to be a Spring clean (I later discovered that people moved to another house), obviously I took it home with me, besides the rip of a large part of the rubberised finish in the lid, a lot of scratches in the plastics, nothing seems to be broken. Ah! And I couldn't find the power cable neither the AC adapter (they could leave it all together :))

Last night I finally looked at it. It powered up and... the Power-On Password icon appeared.

I've read:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... PLYCOUNTRY

and searched:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... t+password

Does this method work or it's better to sell it piece by piece?

Or, what will I need (hardware) to make it work?

That first link should work fine if you ONLY have a POP that needs to be bypassed. If you also have a password on the HD, that's another issue entirely.

Hi. Thank you for the reply.
I don't know if there is any other password, when I saw this I shut it down... even if there is a pw in the HD I can connect another one and solve the problem, right?

If by "connect another one" you mean swap out the original with an alternate, then the answer is yes.
