Using a Thinkpad keyboard on a desktop?

#1 Post by JaYp146 » Thu Mar 26, 2009 6:39 am

So I've fallen in love with the Thinkpad A21m's keyboard. Problem is ... I've found a buyer for the A21m locally on Craigslist and would rather have the money.

I've used my brother's Thinkpad T400 keyboard and found it to be positively immaculate.

My R40's keyboard is decent.

However, my question is -

I also have a desktop and have been trying to find a replacement for my trusty IBM Model M keyboard (broke the space bar) ... something quiet with excellent tactile feedback - something like the A21m or T400's keyboard. I've searched and found the IBM Thinkpad UltraNav keyboard, which looks intriguing, but isn't exactly cheap @ ~$50 on Ebay.

What keyboards have you guys found to be the closest in tactility, response, durability etc. to the best of the Thinkpad keyboards? Does a quiet IBM Model M 'board exist?

Thanks in advance,
JP

I have been using one of these for almost 10 years, it still works as good as when I got it!
You can get them NEW for a song on eBay.
Just bought one for my wife.
