Windows XP no updates after April 14th 2009?

#1 Post by Speeder.dk » Thu Mar 26, 2009 5:34 pm

Hey,

I'm not quite sure about Windows XP EOL...
Microsoft says that Mainstream support ends April 14th 2009. But extended support goes on to 2014.

What does that mean to normal users with a retail Windows XP professional SP3? Will we recieve updates after April 14th, or is this only given to e.g. netbook users?

Would appreciate some clarifation on this :)

I couldn't interpret it from these posts:

Microsoft will no longer take requests on improving nor give you live support. However, major security updates will still be released once mainstreem support ends.

Great! Just what I needed to hear... Don't need live support, as long as updates are carried out i'm happy ...
Thanks...
