Battery or AC?

#1 Post by Sasha » Thu Jan 27, 2005 2:02 pm

Hi

This may be stupid questions, but being a newbie, I think some slack will be cut

I use my laptop mainly at home/work, and always close to a power source. My typical usage of the laptop is for browsing, image editing and documents/spreadsheets. Currently, using the battery maximizer wizard, I am getting close to 4 hours on the battery. I read about battery management and understand that I should drain the battery completely once a month.

Now the questions:

1. Should I be running the laptop on AC power rather than using the battery?
2. Is it OK if I keep the laptop always plugged in to the AC power, thus keeping the battery at 100% charge?
3. If I should run the laptop on AC power, should the batter be in the laptop or can I remove the battery?
4. If I should remove the battery normally, what should be schedule I must follow to plug the battery in the laptop to ensure that the battery doesn' DIE?

yes, yes, battery in (acts as UPS in the event of power failure or plug coming out, if you must remove the battery, store it with a 40% charge in an airtight bag in the fridge.....
